Bringing New Life
All of us at the Flagler County Health Department
are extremely grateful to Mr. Barnett
for bringing new life to our building.
| Have you ever had to sit waiting somewhere that
seemed like the most boring place in the world? Despite our best
intentions, that would describe our health department…..clean, but
dull and boring, nothing to capture your imagination. We post the
required informational and educational posters, and change them as we
can to provide new and "exciting" vistas.
All that has recently changed, thanks to the generosity of Barry Barnett. We have been the recipient of many of his prints, and have had them all matted and framed within the last month, and are in the process of hanging them on our walls. It is nothing short of amazing to see our patients and staff stopping to stare at the prints; often, they are entranced by the pictures. My staff members have organized their own "tour" of our health department, to make sure they have seen all the prints that have just been hung! Now, when patients sit outside the waiting room, they point out animals and people in the prints hanging near them, and don't seem to mind the wait nearly as much. The walls are bright and colorful, and full of emotion, but it is the kind of emotion that is peaceful, quiet, and serene, and maternal, and warm and fuzzy. There are proud Indians, fish, birds, bears, panthers, manatees, landscapes…………….all caught in the moment. Our walls are beautiful now, and it is a distinct pleasure to walk down the halls. All of us at the Flagler County Health Department are extremely grateful to Mr. Barnett for bringing new life to our building, and for brightening our outlook and that of our patients with the gifts of seeing the world in all its beauty and serenity, without leaving our doors! -Flagler County Health Clinic- |
