| Naval Hospital Jacksonville receives more than a
visit from a famous artist International artist Barry Barnett's talent
and love for fine art has taken him all over the world from the fields
of Bosnia to yes --
Naval Hospital Jacksonville. Recently, Barnett agreed to donate more than 48,000 dollars of art to Naval Hospital Jacksonville. The artwork will be displayed throughout the hospital in various clinics and waiting areas. Pictured above, Barnett with mother Oleao Barnett stand in the hospital's lobby in front of one of Barnett's original paintings. According to Barnett, the hospital is a great place for his artwork because it fosters healing and creates goodwill. "The reason I'm donating art to the hospital is to help in the healing process," shared Barnett. "Healing starts when you enter the door. Whether it's the emergency room or the front entrance to the hospital -- I believe that if there is not a positive attitude at the front door, it reflects on what's given as far as the care." Barnett's love and respect for the military dates back to the early 60's, when his life was affected by the Vietnam War, particularly, by those who didn't return from the battlefield. "I donate my artwork to the military out of respect for those who have worn the uniform and for those wearing it now. They pay the price for the freedom and the rights we enjoy so the least I can do is give back to them, what God has given me." Barnett's art is prominent for its vivid colors and detailed images. His work is displayed in private, commercial and institutional collections in more than 28 countries, including places like the United States Senate Collection in Washington, D.C. and the Florida House of Representatives in Tallahassee, Fl. -usn- |
